Focus Skill: Nonfiction Features
We will be identifying the features found in nonfiction text. The students will choose a topic and a nonfiction book that will be used for research and to identify nonfiction features. The vocabularywords for this week are: Headings (Titles/Subtitles/Topic Names), Maps, Photographs, Captions, Types of Print, Graphs, Cut-away, Comparisons, Labels, Diagrams, Table of Contents, Index, Glossary, Close-ups.AR Logs and Reading Logs:

Please have your child fill out the reading log each night after they have read 20 minutes. Parents need to sign and date the reading log each day. Friday, February 14, is the last day to take AR tests for this trimester.

The children will create a character sketch based on a picture set during the time of the Great Depression or Dust Bowl.
