Reading

Focus Skill: Locating Information

We will be reading several articles from Kid's Discover about the Great Depression.  The vocabulary words for this week are; Herbert Hoover, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Great Depression, auction, Hooverville, hobo, newsie, Dust Bowl.  The children will read an article a day about the Great Depression and answer and ask questions about what was read.

AR Logs and Reading Logs:

Please have your child fill out the reading log each night after they have read 20 minutes. Parents need to sign and date the reading log each day.   

Writing

We will be working on personal narratives.

Language Skill 

Review nouns, pronouns, plural nouns, subjects and predicates, and conjunctions.

Spelling

Unit 3 Lesson 1:  Digraph oo; prefixes and suffixes

This week's words are:  food, cartoon, books, reboot, troops, scooting, spool, stool, mistook, bathroom, shook, hoods, brook, driftwood, football, misunderstood, cooking, goodness, hoof, woolly

When studying these words, please talk about the meanings of each word. There is a PowerPoint on my website to help with the meanings.
