November 4th Agenda

This week in Language Arts

Week of November 4

Reading

Focus Skill: Questioning
We will finish reading the book Stone Fox by John Reynolds Gardiner. As we read the book together, we will discuss vocabulary that is confusing and new to the children. There will be a reading comprehension and vocabulary test at the end of the unit.  Here are some vocabulary words we have chosen: palomino, hitched, rodeo, proceeded, irrigation, inspect, harvest, mature, concerned, strong box, mare, bushel, acre, determined, hind, plow, harness, mend, gully. The test on this book will be Thursday.

Reading Logs:
In your child’s folder you will find a pink reading log. Please have your child fill it out and you need to initial it nightly after they have read 20 minutes.

Writing
We're using our Writer’s Notebook to create personal narratives. We will be learning how to edit as we write, and rehearsing storytelling and leads.
Language Skill
We will continue learning about singular and plural nouns.
